Unless you live under a rock, you know that Trust Seals can help you increase your sales.
Note the word ‘TRUST’.
I’m really irritated. No. I’m actually pissed off by all the websites I’ve visited recently that are adding fake seals to their pages, thinking that they’re actually going to build customer trust and increase their sales, when in reality they’re just proving to their customers how unethical and untrustworthy they are.
In my opinion, these types of seals are worse than nothing at all, because any savvy customer can see right through them. Seriously people!
Note from Mike Filsaime – DO NOT BUY FROM WEBSITES WITH FAKE SEALS ON THEM!

Alright. My rant is over. I feel better now.
So, here’s my point, and I’ll try to make this as clear as possible…
Trust seals can increase your sales and be a powerful asset, but they can’t just be made up by a graphic designer. To have any valuable long-term results, they have to come from a reliable, well established company with brand recognition.
Here’s the short list of sites that I recommend that meet the criteria of a good trust seal…
McAfee Secure / Control Scan / Trust Guard – Offers PCI Vulnerability Scanning
Truste / Trust Guard – Offers Privacy Policy Verification
BBB / Trust Guard – Offers Business Verification
Verisign / Comodo / GeoTrust – Offer SSL Certificates
Ratepoint / Shopper Approved – Offer verified customer ratings and reviews
That’s about it folks. Obviously there are a few others but that’s the core. (like my good friends at HonestEOnline.com)
I’ve personally used Verisign, McAfee, and Trust Guard, and a few others in the past, but I’m moving more and more towards using Trust Guard exclusively for several reasons…
1 – They get results. Our internal split tests show that Trust Guard beats everything else we’ve thrown at it, including McAfee Secure. We’re talking multiple consecutive tests with 95% confidence intervals. Pretty heavy duty stuff.
2 – They have brand recognition. Their seals were viewed by over 200 million people last year, with over a billion seal views and it just keeps increasing.
3 – They’re the only company to offer all 3 types of seals in one location. I pay thousands a year for McAfee and I know that the BBB and Truste can cost thousands as well. With Trust Guard I get comparable seals and services to all three of these other companies for less than $700, and they even offer monthly payments with no contracts. With McAfee I nearly had to give away my first born to sign up.
4 – They’re the only company to offer custom seals. Now this is really important and here’s why. If I was a bad person and I wanted to mislead customers, I could easily steal McAfee, Truste, and BBB seals from some other website and add them to my site in about 30 seconds flat. But with Trust Guard, every seal includes the website name and the date integrated right in the the actual seal image, which makes it nearly impossible to steal or fake. I don’t know about you, but it gives me a lot of reassurance knowing that the other Trust Guard seals out on the Internet are authentic.
5 – They’re great people. I always get a hold of a real person, and they’re quick to help. I’ve also got to know the owners personally over time, and they’ve always under-promised and over-delivered, which is the way business should be done.
6 – They keep getting better. It’s rare to see a company that continually innovates and improves their services like these guys do.
In fact, there’s so much that I like about Trust Guard, that I’m including a direct link to their site below, just because they’ve done so much to help me and my business over the last year and a half.
If you’ve ever considered adding trust seals to your website, I highly recommend that you check them out.
Here is a DIRECT LINK to them – http://Trust-Guard.com
Till next time,
Mike Filsaime
P.S. See how powerful word-of-mouth advertising can be? 18 months ago I didn’t know anything about Trust Guard, but they stepped up, offered me excellent service, surpassed my expectations, and now I’m paying it forward.
